Swiss Phone Numbers: Required Documents for Business Use

The business-only rule, representative ID and local address requirements.
Agendly
03/11/2026 – Agendly

Swiss local numbers in Agendly’s registration flow are for business use. A company or a sole trader with the required Swiss business registration can request a number; a private individual seeking a number for personal use cannot use this flow.

Checklist reviewed: 3 November 2026. This guide describes the documents for Agendly’s local-number review. Documents must match the actual end user and requested number type; acceptance follows review of the submitted evidence.

For example, a Zurich number uses 044 domestically, written with +41 44 internationally. The service address must support the geographic area requested.

Address requirements

Provide a complete address matching the number’s area code: street, building number, four-digit Swiss postal code, city and country. Upload proof of address dated within the last three months.

The identity of the business, the representative and the holder shown in the address evidence must be consistent enough to verify the request. A country-wide business presence alone does not establish the location needed for every geographic prefix.

Company: required information and documents

Provide the company name, Swiss business registration number, the authorized representative’s first and last name, contact phone number and contact email address.

Submit these documents:

- Swiss business registration certificate.
- Valid identity card or passport of the authorized representative.
- Recent proof of the service address matching the requested area code.

The representative’s identity document is required in this Swiss business checklist. Make the identity page and all relevant document details readable.

Sole trader: required information and documents

A sole trader must apply as a business and provide the same evidence: Swiss business registration and registration number, the owner or authorized representative’s identity card or passport, and recent proof of the local service address. Include the business name, representative’s name, phone and email.

Being self-employed does not remove the registration requirement. If you cannot supply the Swiss business evidence required by the checklist, confirm eligibility before requesting the number.

Private individual: eligibility

Private use is not supported for Swiss local numbers in this flow. A passport and a residential utility bill alone do not satisfy the business-use requirement. Choosing the business client type also requires the underlying business evidence.

Preparing a complete submission

Use readable, complete files, with names, registration number and address consistent across the submission. Check the address evidence’s issue date before uploading it: documents outside the three-month window do not meet the checklist.

Swiss number registration is reviewed before activation. The registration records used for the order are handled during that review; creating a profile alone does not make a number active.

Local numbers, mobile availability and multiple profiles

Swiss mobile numbers are not offered in Agendly’s current purchase flow. Its latest inventory check on 2 November 2026 found no mobile coverage. This guide covers geographic local numbers, not SIM cards or the wider Swiss mobile market. Mobile-number purchase availability and the ability to call mobile destinations are separate features.

Use a separate compliance profile for each country and local prefix. If you request numbers in two Swiss areas, prepare the location evidence for each prefix. Keep the existing approved profile when adding another one.

FAQ

Is the representative’s ID required for a Swiss company?

Yes. The Swiss local-business checklist requires an identity card or passport of the authorized representative, along with business registration and address evidence.

Can a sole trader apply with only a personal ID?

No. A sole trader must meet the business registration requirements as well as the identity and address requirements.

Is the address allowed to be anywhere in Switzerland?

The service address must match the requested geographic number’s area code. A different prefix requires its own location review.
